I've posted about my stoppage issues before. Whenever I try keto,
my digestive tract seems to shut down. Eating carbs regularly (bowl of cereal,
rice or something with dinner), I'd have frequent movements. On keto, I've been
resorting to taking laxatives every 5-6 days.
Some of you have previously suggested that my body is probably
producing less waste. I know this isn't true. I can feel that there is stuff
that needs to go, but my body seems to not want to let me push any of it on
out. I'm taking fiber supplements on top of my regular veggie fiber intake. I
average about 20-25g of fiber per day.

I realize you're all not doctors, but do you think this issue is
maybe a sign that I shouldn't be doing keto? I've noticed visible belly-goo
loss, but I'm never able to see much scale change because of this home remedies for consistent constipation
issue.
Stool softeners might be the right way to go
here. I would suggest that everyone starting keto go on softeners for about 2
weeks. There is no real urgency with them, it just lets you go normally without
having to worry when they kick in. If you are using them to beat a current bout
of home remedies for consistent constipation, expect it to take around 24 hours.
I had problems for the first 3 weeks. My theory is that your
digestive system has had an easy ride for a long time digesting dairies, soft
cake and rice. You just need to power through it and your digestive system will
toughen up for the extra workload.
I should mention that now I only have 1 BM every couple of days
but I piss like a racehorse. Pre-keto, 3-4 BM daily.
Opinion only – Home Remedies for consistent constipation
1) drink enough water and follow the suggestions
in the FAQ and links
2) other suggestions here
3) more spicy food and adequate dietary intake of
magnesium.
And i second the water comment. carry a 1 liter bottle with you,
drink at least 4 a day. it's not hard...just put one down every time you eat.
drink til your pee is clear. Remember your colon is where your body absorbs water. if there's
not enough the content gets dried up and cant pass. Of consistent constipation
I'm not sure if it's directly related, but the
1-minute muffins recipe (1/4 cup flax, baking powder, splenda/stevia, cinnamon,
egg and butter) has fixed this sort of problem for me. You should give it a go. What kinds of veggies are you eating? Lots of
broccoli and cauliflower (3-4 cups over two meals?) plus 60 g of almonds per
day works for me, but if I eat almonds without real veggies, things don't go as
well.
My bm's are not regular anymore either. I've
found that if I do a small carb increase it helps to get things moving. Hope
you find something that works! [Read More]
