Causes Of Constipation - How To Constipation Cures?

Constipation Cures?

I was taking a prenatal vitamin with a stool softener until my pharmacy stopped carrying it (then I just switched to an OTC prenatal) and the stool softener really helped me. I have lots of trouble with my digestive tract when not pregnant, so especially when the OB told me she wanted me taking additional iron, I thought I was done for, but I didn't have many problems. Now that I'm taking a prenatal without a stool softener, I supplement with magnesium, which I did before I was pregnant to deal with my wonky digestion (I use a product called Natural Calm) which is approved by my midwife. It's a powder that you mix into a liquid and drink, so it's easy to control your dose, and you gradually build up your dose (I go by 1/4 teaspoons) until your stools are a bit loose and then go back down to the previous dosage. I keep a stool softener on hand just in case, but with the magnesium I haven't needed it. Causes Of Constipation .

GD diet works great against constipation for me, of course I cook my own meals from scratch - creamy soups, whole grain pasta and loads of green salad with homemade dressings (premade bought dressings are full of sugar and icky additives). Also, look for natural mineral water rich with magnesium and dissolve a magnesium fizzy tablet in it, drink it first thing in the morning. Drink loads of water, avoid sweet drinks and sodas. Cumin+fennel seeds and camomile flowers tea helps (mix your own, it's more natural and without strange herbs added). Avoid yogurts with those "natural probiotic bacteria" because it's all bullpoo, rather have a natural one and mix in proper fruit.
Also iron supplement helps me for some reason (my doc. said they affect me in a completely different way than other pregnant women). Prunes did absolutely nothing for me. Because of all the above I'm a regular once-a-day poo-person (almost on a timer - between 10 and 11 am).

Fiber causes gas and bloating. Don't do it. Causes Of Constipation
Get Miralax, and take the recommended dose. Also pick up some Natural Calm and take nightly before bed. It's doctor approved, found in vitamin and health stores, and is wonderful for you and baby. It's a pure magnesium powder and helps with regulating the natural way a bowel should behave, and I'd marry it if I could!. I take a different approach than most. I find taking an over the counter probiotic (I try to get a multi strain type) in huge quantities (like, 5x the typical dose) to be very effective. Also, large quantities of vegetables also works well for me (I'll put ~2lbs of carrots in my vitamix and just drink it like a thick carrot juice. Works like a charm, and maybe the baby will like carrots...) Causes Of Constipation .

Apple juice has the same effect as prune juice. I've been drinking a glass a day since about 12 weeks and haven't had too many problems since. [Read More]

Home Remedies For Consistent Constipation

I've posted about my stoppage issues before. Whenever I try keto, my digestive tract seems to shut down. Eating carbs regularly (bowl of cereal, rice or something with dinner), I'd have frequent movements. On keto, I've been resorting to taking laxatives every 5-6 days.

Some of you have previously suggested that my body is probably producing less waste. I know this isn't true. I can feel that there is stuff that needs to go, but my body seems to not want to let me push any of it on out. I'm taking fiber supplements on top of my regular veggie fiber intake. I average about 20-25g of fiber per day.

I realize you're all not doctors, but do you think this issue is maybe a sign that I shouldn't be doing keto? I've noticed visible belly-goo loss, but I'm never able to see much scale change because of this home remedies for consistent constipation issue.
Stool softeners might be the right way to go here. I would suggest that everyone starting keto go on softeners for about 2 weeks. There is no real urgency with them, it just lets you go normally without having to worry when they kick in. If you are using them to beat a current bout of home remedies for consistent constipation, expect it to take around 24 hours.
I had problems for the first 3 weeks. My theory is that your digestive system has had an easy ride for a long time digesting dairies, soft cake and rice. You just need to power through it and your digestive system will toughen up for the extra workload.
I should mention that now I only have 1 BM every couple of days but I piss like a racehorse. Pre-keto, 3-4 BM daily.

Opinion only – Home Remedies for consistent constipation

1) drink enough water and follow the suggestions in the FAQ and links
2) other suggestions here
3) more spicy food and adequate dietary intake of magnesium.
And i second the water comment. carry a 1 liter bottle with you, drink at least 4 a day. it's not hard...just put one down every time you eat. drink til your pee is clear. Remember your colon is where your body absorbs water. if there's not enough the content gets dried up and cant pass. Of consistent constipation
I'm not sure if it's directly related, but the 1-minute muffins recipe (1/4 cup flax, baking powder, splenda/stevia, cinnamon, egg and butter) has fixed this sort of problem for me. You should give it a go. What kinds of veggies are you eating? Lots of broccoli and cauliflower (3-4 cups over two meals?) plus 60 g of almonds per day works for me, but if I eat almonds without real veggies, things don't go as well.
My bm's are not regular anymore either. I've found that if I do a small carb increase it helps to get things moving. Hope you find something that works! [Read More]
